However, in the end, he did not take up the position.

And instead, he lived in small hut near the mountain village, staring intently at the chaotic state of the capital and writing about the impermanence of this world and how to handle his own life.

His essays are rich in suggestions for us today as well, advocating a slow lifestyle.
